Seafood by Lee Zhe Ching

Dear readers, we do know seafood expertise all over the world. This is my pleasure to taste one of the famous seafood in Perak and i would like to share this information through social media.

Tanjung Tualang actually is a little village which now accommodate by old generation people. They live here since few generations ago. Provincial do not have much activity in day time, they probably would do some house-work, gardening, farming or peddler until the mining area which was being use as "Kapal Korek" that owned by an European last time, right now had become a freshwater pond to breed freshwater prawn or fish and so on. People who breed prawns will start to run their seafood business . Thus, I am glad to visit one of the Seafood Restaurant in Tanjung Tualang since there are many choices in this small village.

No doubt, freshwater prawns attracted everyone’s eyes, even people of other cities purposely visit to Perak just want to try this special freshwater prawns. Lets have a look on Restoaurant Lung Seng, one of the famous seafood restaurants in Tanjung Tualang, I am glad to taste their Nestum Prawns, the special flavour which is served with freshwater prawns. It used to be cooked in variety ways, from steaming to frying in many styles. This is definitely finger licking good, good and goood!!!

The moment we bite the meat, we can feel the crunchy, sweet and hot even fresh in the prawn's meat, this is satisfied us a lot as a food hunter. This dish have to be eaten with few bowl of white rice because our stomach haven't full at all hahahaha.. The customer who came along with their big family should try this dish due to the freshness of prawns and combination of the nestum oat.

(Old Town Street)
(Sin Yong Loong and Sin Yuan Foong)
Ipoh has been famous for white coffee for many generation thanks to its founder at Sin Yoon Loong and now it is a success. Sin Yoon Loong now known around the country for one of the best Ipoh street food location. Nevertheless, Sin Yoon Loong is reviewed on various food and beverages websites and listed as one of the tourist point of interests on the website. We also took the opportunity of our 2 days' holiday to go to Sin Yoon Loong. We never been there before so it is kind of exciting for us. Upon arriving on our destination, we were shocked that on the single street alone that there are more than 4 cafés that selling the famous “white coffee”.

(Ipoh White Coffee)
We heard and seen many review that said it would be crowded most of the time so we decided to go reach there by 4:30pm (almost at closing). So, when we reached there we did not waste our time to do any of the sightseeing along the street. We will kick start our meal with the famous white coffee. The food is not costly and for the toast with soft-boiled eggs only cost RM4 (big).

(Dan Chi with White Coffee)
(Toast topped with Soft-boiled egg)
As expected the white coffee was delicious. The coffee was aromatic in some unusual way. It is kind of bitter for me but I enjoyed it when I continue to drink it. On top of the ‘Dan chi’ was scrumptious. The toast was spread with butter. The toast was crispy and it was eaten with soft boiled eggs by added some soy sauce and pepper. The taste blend harmoniously in our mouth and it melted in our taste bud.

(The old picture of sin yoon long and sin yoon foong)

Rojak by Christina Tan Xin Ni

Last few days, I went to restaurant and I found a very special food. I do think that you all knew it very well. It is rojak. Usually this food is the combination of different kind of fruits such as cucumber, pineapple, benkoang (jicama), bean sprouts, taupok (puffy, deep-fried tofu) and youtiao (cut-up Chinese-style fritters). I believe that most of us must tried rojak before. It is very common in Malaysia especially in Penang, Perak or even Kuala Lumpur.

But different places have their different cultural, they make rojak by using different ingredient. Penang rojak are mix all the fruits and spicy piquant sauce together. I realized that Perak’s rojak is a little bit different with other places after I joined UTAR family.

Perak’s rojak have a bit different, it mixes abundance of crunchy deep-fried dough fritters with the fruits and some spicy piquant. The reason that I like rojak is because in this food we can eat many types of fruits. Besides that, the spicy piquant is also delicious. It is very awesome when it mixes with the fruits. You all can see the picture below, i am holding the rojak and you all may be able to see that how does it looks like.
(Me and the Perak Rojak)

While i am eating the rojak, i still able to chat with the owner of the stall about the rojak. Here are some dialogues.

Me: Aunty ah, how did you prepare the rojak????
Aunty: Hahaha, come my dear. I will explain to you ok??
Me: Okokok aunty!!!
Aunty: It mix a lot of fruits and also the most important is the spicy piquant sauce. The spicy piquant sauce is a secret recipe that teach by my grandmother and of course i cannot tell you the secret recipe hahahah....
Me: Aunty, aunty, rojak is a traditional food mah???
Aunty: Yes my dear.... It is a traditional food in Malaysia and it is a healthy food because all of the ingredients are fruits. Many children also like it very much ohh..
Me: Hahahaha, thank you aunty for explaining the rojak. I think i will always visit aunty le hahahaha...

I also took a picture during the process of preparing the rojak unfortunately i unable to selfie with her because she was very busy doing her stuff and serving her customers on that time.

(The process of making the Perak rojak)

We can know that most of the rojak are healthy and suitable for anyone either adult nor children and i believe that children will like it very much because it is really crunchy. Hahahaha. Opsssss, i forgot to mention the price. Let you all guess how much is the rojak. It just costs us RM 5.00 and i do think the price is really worth it because it have a lot of the ingredients and the most important thing is IT IS REALLY DELICIOUS. Totally worth it!!!

The good thing is that the ‘tau fu fah’ or any dessert in their shop did not use any preservative and it is halal. So if you plan to take-away, it is better to eat it sooner or eat it on the spot! The shop still have the same service such as walk-in or drive thru. The drive thru service are convenience as the shop are always full of people. Customer could just park right in front of the shop or nearby the shop. All you have to do is wave at them and one of their worker will come to take order. The shop open at 10.30 till while the stock last. So it is better to reach as early as possible.

As you can see from the picture above, the texture of the ‘tau fu fah’ are so silky smooth. As you put it in your mouth, you can instantly feel the ‘tau fu fah’ melt in your mouth. Yes, it was the smooth to the point you can feel it melt in your mouth. Besides that, the syrup given in the bowl are well balance with it. One bowl is cost RM1.20. The only disadvantages of it is that is a small bowl with an expensive price. And one bowl will not satisfied your tummy.

Beside the ‘tau fu fah’. They also sell drink such as soya bean or soya bean with cincau (grass jelly). The drink you may choose to drink on the spot or even a take-away. It available in small or big sizes. Small RM2.50 and big is RM6.00.

Chapati Telur Cheese by Choo Kar Hooi

(Restoran Karim In Kampar)
I begins my degree life last few months ago. As a newbie and food hunter, first thing i will do is to discover the food and beverage in Kampar to fulfill my needs. For sure the first food that i met is Chapati Telur Cheese in east lake area. This shop called as mamak stall and Restoran Karim, usually we called it as "eastlake" or "rk". We all knew that most of the mamak stalls operate in 24 hours so we usually went there at midnight to have our supper.

(The process of making chapati)

To get these pictures, i decided to went there at 4 p.m. last few days ago but at last i could not get any picture even eat the chapati even eat the chapati. When i started my interview with the staff only i can know that the time to prepare the Chapati is at 6 p.m.(actually chapati only available at 6 o'clock), this might disappointed us because we really want to eat Chapati so much. You all may be able to imagine that... I took some pictures during the process of making the Chapati Telur Cheese and the pictures above is a part of the process. I also recorded a video to show that how they prepare the chapati.

(Chapati Telur Cheese with Teh Tarik!!!)

Awwww... Can you all see that??? This chapati is very well-prepared and it has a nice color. I do think that all of u are struggling right now after saw this picture??? Hahaha. What i want to tell is this is not just only a normal chapati, it have fried eggs and cheese inside there. The taste was so cheesy until we want to order it again. But for me, i only can eat two pieces since the cheese can make us feel really full so i strongly suggest that you all should eat not more than two pieces. Hahahaha.

(Egg and Cheese inside there!!!)

(The cheesy chapati!!)
That day i was ordered beverage to match with chapati. Mostly i would chose "Teh Panas" or "Teh Ais" as my beverage to match with it. For me, i do think that "Teh Panas" or "Teh Ais" is the perfect match for chapati and it can increase the tastiness of the meal. It actually can be another drinks to match with the chapati. This kind of chapati also can be called as mini pizza and the price is affordable. Until now i haven't tell you all the price of this chapati. The price is RM 3.00 for one piece. Cheap right?? I do think it is worth it.

(One table with different kind of foods)

Me and my friends also went there after we finished our class together. Each of us ordered the different things such as Nasi Pattaya, Maggi Groreng, Nasi Goreng (Fried Rice). All of us were satisfy with the food here and what do i like is the service. Their service is quite good and they are very friendly with their customer. Actually there are a few mamak stalls in new town area but we tend to choose here even it is quite far away from our residence area (west lake). I feels very lucky because this mamak stall will accompany me for next two years in my degree life. Hahahaha. I also strongly recommend you all to visit here as they are very cheap at all (even a glass of boiled water also will not be charged). You all may scroll down to view the video. ^^

Thank you for reading this blog.
